The House and Senate will vote Friday whether or not to cap enrollment for Carroll County's K12 Virginia Virtual Academy.
The academy allows students from all over the Commonwealth to enroll in public school, but take their classes online. The program now with four hundred students would have to cut back to three hundred and fifty if the cap is approved.
"It would be very disappointing for Matthew if he had to go back to the classroom," said Karen Coburn, parent of a K12 student.
The Coburns have participated in the program for a nearly a year now.
"He loves it. It's just a great alternative for him. There's fewer distractions and he's able to move ahead," said Coburn.
Some state leaders have questions about funding for the program. If they place the cap, they also plan to take a closer look at how the program is payed for.
