A fire caused heavy damage to a home on Ferry Road on Monday evening.
About 20 personnel from the Danville Fire Department and Danville Lifesaving Crew responded to the blaze at 413 Ferry Road. Firefighters were still battling the fire at 9:30 p.m.
“When we pulled up it was just heavy smoke,” said Battalion Chief Bryan Shields.
There was one person living there and he was outside when personnel arrived, Shields said. His condition was unknown.
The fire caused extensive damage to the home’s interior and exterior.
Neighbor Clarence Walter said he was at his mother’s house nearby working on her truck when she alerted him to the fire. She initially thought it was at his home, Walter said.
“It’s unfortunate,” Walter said of the incident. “It makes you want to cry, you know.”
Details about the blaze were unavailable Monday night.
