Hardy Fire Dept. auctions seized items

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A local fire department is able to recoup at least some of the money prosecutors say was stolen by the department's former chief.

The Hardy Volunteer Fire Company auctioned items seized by state police from the home of the late Jeff Shifflett in 2009.

The items included a classic car, a pick-up truck, a Jeep, trailer, 2 tractors, 37 guns, a big screen TV, an oven and various equipment.

All of the items sold, according to auctioneer Shannon Simmons. The total is not yet available.

Under a plea deal, the court ordered Jeff Shifflett's widow Deborah Shifflett to give the seized items to the fire department.
