A new construction project will bring more than 100 jobs to Montgomery County.
Warm Hearth Village Retirement Community and WoodsEdge broke ground Tuesday morning on a new 16,300 square foot center to promote the arts, and art of healthy aging for seniors in Blacksburg.
The idea behind the center began 35 years ago. Dr. Wybe Kroontje envisioned a central gathering place for both seniors who live at Warm Hearth and the community, according to Warm Hearth.
The center's features are expected to include a fitness suite with a warm indoor saltwater pool, as well as spaces for people to get together, and a welcome center for guests.
Warm Hearth tells WSLS that the project will create 125 construction jobs, and the retirement community will hire additional workers to staff the new center.
