Virginia Tech students work on Covington's new farmers market

»  Comments | Post a Comment

More than a dozen architecture students from Virginia Tech are spending the next two weeks in Covington, as they complete a year-long project.

With a grant of  $111,000 dollars from the Alleghany Foundation, the students designed, and are now building the new farmers' market in downtown Covington.

Students built the stucture in Blacksburg.  Some of the wood used for this project was salvaged from an old warehouse in Clifton Forge.  The finished pieces were transported to Covington this week.

Volunteer Project Manager Jacob Wright tells WSLS that they hope to have the project completed by May 28th.
