With the weather cooling down, Winter coats are a must for everyone.
That helped influence the Roanoke Rescue Mission's first ever coat drive.
The rescue mission is collecting lightly worn winter coats to give to the 400 men, women, and children currently in their shelter.
“Roanokers are the best of the best, and when they know that there are people that need coats, and they see the weather outside, they're going to drop off coats,” said Roanoke Rescue Mission CEO Joy Sylvester-Johnson. “So I'm not worried at all. I think the minute that people know the coats will come in.”
This week, WSLS is also helping the Roanoke Rescue Mission raise money so that it can afford to help others.
We'll be holding a phone bank Thursday, where you can call in to learn more about the shelter, how you can donate, as well as how to sign up for the annual Thanksgiving Drum Stick Dash.
