The Roanoke Rescue Mission serves around 1,500 people three meals each day.
But today is Thanksgiving and the doors are open to anyone who needs a holiday meal.
For those who volunteer to serve, the Thanksgiving feast is a tradition.
And for those who come out to eat, they leave with a full stomach and new friends.
"Seeing all the people here and coming from all over the community, all ages and sizes and colors, and speaking different languages... I think it realy brings home how grateful I am and how grateful we are here at the mission that on this day, on Thanksgiving day... everyone has a place at the table, everyone feels welcome." said Joy Sylvester-Johnson, CEO of the Roanoke Rescue Mission.
The Rescue Mission is always looking for volunteers for the holidays.
If you are interested, just drop by their location in downtown Roanoke to sign up.
