Salem fire damages Pizza Pasta Pit

The Salem Fire & EMS Department responded to a structure fire at 1713 Riverview Drive, at the Pizza Pasta Pit restaurant, Wednesday evening, at approximately 10:52 p.m.

The building was unoccupied and no one was injured during the fire.


The first units arrived within six minutes of receiving the call and found heavy smoke coming from the building. Crews found a fire in the basement and were able to contain the fire to that basement area.


Approximately 20 personnel from the Salem Fire & EMS Department (Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Medic 801 & Medic 803) responded to the call. Roanoke Fire & EMS Department Engine 4 provided staffing to cover additional calls.


The fire remains under investigation and there is no damage estimate at this time.
