Yellow Freight, or YRC Freight, has a satisfactory safety record according to on-line information from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, which is under the umbrella of the U.S. Department of Transportation.

YRC Worldwide is based in Overland Park, Kansas.

Government records show it employs more than 14,000 drivers, with 8,766 "power units."

The FMCSA website recorded that the company traveled more than 500 million miles in 2010 alone in the United States and Canada.

The federal government's statistics showed the company was under the national average as far as failed inspections with vehicles and drivers, but slightly above the national average in failed hazardous materials inspections.

The website showed that 17 fatalities had been reported to the FMCSA between February 1, 2010 and February 1, 2012.

The website reported 177 injuries during that same time frame.

Virginia state police investigators plan to perform one final inspection on the driver of the fatal crash in Botetourt County, Wayne Kratzer's vehicle.

Investigators said they'll be checking for any faulty equipment on the rig.

State police said Kratzer traveled from the company's terminal in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
