Our newscast after the Super Bowl Sunday night was riddled with technical difficulties that did not go unnoticed by our viewers.
One viewer posted on our Facebook page, "FIX Jay's mic! and now Karen's, I know it is Super Bowl Sunday but did the crew have the night off?
Lee Dooley posted, "Not a problem, seemed like one after another. Sorry for the bad luck, you guys are usually always on the ball."
While Jessica Wade wrote, "Hello we can't hear you!! Turn up the mics."
WSLS responds: You are all correct. The show was botched. We had a series of technical difficulties including mics that died several times. We have our engineering crew looking into the problem. Still, there are no excuses here. We normally do better and should have done better Sunday night.
Another viewer felt our reports on the improving jobless numbers last week skewed to the left.
Jewel Williams complained that the jobless reports "...don't include all of the facts when they tell the American people these rates. They do not factor in the SEASONAL ADJUSTMENTS, or the fact that they do not count all of the people who have just gave up and are not looking for work. All of the facts should be included, instead of giving the American people FALSE HOPE. This is just an election tactic to make the LIBERAL's look good and to cover up for this administration. This is an election year and we deserve to know the truth behind these numbers and everything that comes from the liberal's in DC and the media. It is easy to pick up on the fact that WSLS (NBC) leans too far to the left at times.”
WSLS responds: There is a lot of information that goes into the reporting of jobless claims and they are the same from administration to administration. That means that our reporting of these figures was exactly the same as President Bush was preparing for re-election in 2004 as they are now, as President Obama prepares for re-election. There is no bias here.
