A spokesman for Mountain Valley Transportation said, at a staff meeting in Roanoke this morning, employees were informed ex-general manager, Robert "Andre" Harris, was no longer employed.
Court records show Harris was charged with DWI and refusing a breathalyzer test in Salem on January 22nd.
The spokesman for Mountain Valley, Jim Folkes, said Harris was suspended two days later, and fired Monday, February 6th.
Folkes said Mountain Valley informed the Roanoke City Schools system of the arrest. Roanoke City Schools pays Mountain Valley to run its school bus system.
"We certainly talked with [Roanoke City Schools] to make sure they were aware of the situation," Folkes said.
Folkes confirmed that the 2009 white Dodge van Harris was driving at the time of his arrest, belonged to Mountain Valley. Folkes said the van was unmarked.
Court records show Harris has a hearing scheduled in Salem General District Court on February 28th.
Harris could not be reached for comment.
