Thursday 11:27 p.m.

Officers with the Pearisburg Police Department have arrested a wanted fugitive.

Online records show Dennis Carl Steinbauer was arrested in Giles County on Wednesday, February 8th.  He's being held on a felony fugitive warrant and misdemeanor avoiding arrest. Online records also show Steinbauer with the birth date of October 14, 1947, which would make him 64-years-old.

10 On Your Side did some digging.  In an online search, a Dennis Carl Steinbauer was listed on America’s Most Wanted fugitive’s page, and included a mugshot.

Information on the AMW website says his current age is 64-years-old, and lists a lengthy criminal history dating to 1967.  It says Steinbauer was constantly on the prowl lurking in places children might hang out.  In 1980, he was convicted of sexual conduct with a minor.

In that same online search, a Dennis Carl Steinbauer was listed on the Scottsdale, Arizona Police Department's most wanted list.  The same mugshot from America’s Most Wanted is on the Scottsdale Police website, and the birth date was listed as October 14, 1947.  According to the Scottsdale’s police department’s website, Steinbauer is wanted on an aggravated assault warrant, and failure to register as a sex offender.  It also says he has fled the area, and could be a danger to children.

We made several attempts to call the Giles County Sheriff's Office, and the Scottsdale, Arizona Police Department on Thursday evening and night.  Neither could not provide any additional information on the arrest of Dennis Carl Steinbauer.
