No charges expected after pedestrian hit in Christiansburg

An investigation found there was nothing the driver could have done to avoid hitting a man crossing North Franklin St. in Christiansburg Wednesday night.

Joshua Leonard Carter, 23, of Blacksburg was attempting to cross the southbound lane of North Franklin St. when he stepped directly into the path pickup truck.

He was airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital and as of Thursday afternoon, was still there. Information on his current condition is unavailable.

The driver of the pickup truck was identified as Chiah Davis, 34, from Christiansburg. 

An investigation found there was nothing Davis could have done to avoid hitting Carter.  Davis has not been charged and no charges are expected.
