Federal court records show the United States Department of the Interior has filed a civil complaint against the Blacksburg Country Club.
The complaint alleges that back on July 9, 2007, a Blacksburg Country Club employee discharged three pesticides into the North Fork of the Roanoke River.
The complaint reads the discharge resulted in the deaths of 169 Roanoke logperch, a federally endangered fish.
In the complaint, the government is asking a judge to rule that the country club should pay for several alleged damages, but no damage estimate is listed.
The club's general manager, Tom Deutsch, said the club is working with state and federal authorities to improve the habitat for the fish, which includes six different projects over the next five years.
