State Police are investigating two car crashes i Amherst County from Tuesday night, that troopers believe are linked. One involves a stolen car, the other a hit and run.
Officers tell WSLS the first crash happened on Route 29, just north of the Town of Amherst. A 1994 Ford Escort stationwagon sideswiped another vehicle, and drove off from the scene.
Not long after the first crash, State Police believe the same stationwagon hit a 1994 Ford Taurus at the intersection of Route 151 and Canodys Store Road shortly after 8:00 p.m. The locations are about seven miles apart.
EMTs took the driver of the station wagon to UVA Medical Center, and said the driver has serious injuries.
Troopers say the driver of the Taurus ran off moments after the crash took place. That car had previously been reported as stolen. Officers are still searching for the person who was driving the Taurus.
Charges are pending in both crashes.
