Fire destroys Campbell County house

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Fire destroyed a Lynch Station home shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday.

The house, at 18 Wileman Road, near Leesville Road, was fully engulfed by the time crews arrived, said Fire Marshal Randall Johnson Wednesday.

No one was home at the time.

Johnson said crews from Altavista and Evington volunteer fire departments fought the fire aggressively, but were unable to get inside the house. One firefighter suffered minor injuries when a piece of the house fell and struck him. He was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital as a precaution, Johnson said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
