Liberty University sponsors pro snow skier

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Meet professional freestyle skier Jay Panther.  Now Liberty's signing on to be his main sponsor and Panther says it's taking his career to new heights.

"My sport is incredibly financially taxing and to have their support allows to do all things I want to do, be it traveling to all the different training opportunities around the world, getting to every contest that I possibly can,” said Panther.

Panther says another great perk from this sponsorship is he can come to the Liberty Snowflex and train any time he wants.

And the training is paying off.  The 27-year old won the World Cup Freestyle selections in Colorado three weeks ago.

"Right now my big trick is a D-spin 1080, which is an off axis three rotations in the air,” said Panther.

The sponsorship might seem like an odd pairing with most pros being fronted by clothing brands and energy drink companies.  But panther says he and LU have more in common than you think.

"It's huge for me to have my values and Liberty's values be in line.  To be able to promote a Christian lifestyle and a Christian university is an amazing opportunity for me,” said Panther.

Panther is on track to make the US team for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia.  With this unique partnership, now he's got the support from the entire Liberty community.
