A North Carolina man was killed in a tractor trailer accident Thursday morning in Pittsylvania County.
The single-vehicle wreck happened at about 10:30 a.m. next to Shorter Brothers Garage on U.S. 29 just north of Chatham.
The driver, Jesse Chapman Campbell, 32, of Greensboro, N.C., ran off the right side of the highway while heading south and hit three mailboxes and a concrete culvert before ending up in a wooded area down an embankment. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Virginia State Police Trooper Henry Harmon would not release the victim’s name Thursday afternoon because his next of kin had not been notified.
Harmon said the driver was returning to Greensboro, N.C., after delivering products to Lynchburg.
