State Police are investigating a deadly crash in Franklin County.
According to Sergeant Robert Carpentieri, one teen died in a crash on Route 122, about two miles northeast of Rocky Mount. Earlier reports indicated two teen fatalities.
The victim's name has not been released.
Sgt. Carpentieri tells WSLS three other people were taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, but their names or conditions were not available as of 10:30 p.m. Monday night.
The crash is under investigation, but State Police say high speed was a factor.
VDOT's 511Virginia.org sent out its first alert about the accident around 4:00 p.m. Monday. In the alert, it listed a "multi-vehicle accident," near where Route 122 and Beechdale Road meet. The crash blocked all lanes for a little more than three hours.
