The Henry County Sheriff's Office says its deputies have arrested a man in connection with a sting to catch internet child predators.
Lieutenant Eric Winn says the investigation began on January 10th, when the sheriff's office was contacted about a person trying to solicit a juvenile for sex over the internet.
The suspect used the online handle "K-Lee," and claimed to be a 25-year-old seeking sex with a 12-year-old girl.
Investigator Jeremy Stanley then went online, pretended to be the 12-year-old, and started communicating with "K-Lee." During the investigation, "K-Lee" said he wanted to meet the 12-year-old in person, and described "explicitly" the sexual acts that he wanted.
Inv. Stanley posing at the 12-year-old, set up a meeting with "K-Lee." The user told Stanley that he would be driving a white van.
Around 8:57 p.m. on January 10th, Inv. Stanley and Inv. Jerry Farmer went to the location, saw a white van pull up, then identified themselves to the driver, who then sped off.
The deputies chased the van, and called in help from State Police, as well as the Patrick County Sheriff's Office. The officers eventually stopped the van by using spike strips.
Officers arrested 40-year-old Kary Lee Taylor Jr., of Fieldale, and charged him with:
Use of electronic means to entice or allure a minor to conduct a sexual act (felony)
Elude police (felony).
Taylor is being held at the Henry Co. Jail, without bond.
