Roanoke City Police Department spokeswoman Aisha Johnson says the body is that of a man. The man's name is not being released until relatives are notified.
Johnson said the man's body was found in the parking lot at 1:19 p.m.

Roanoke Police believe the person died after a medical issue, and have ruled the death 'non-criminal' in nature.

Roanoke City Police are investigating whether a body found in a parking lot is a criminal death or not.
Police department spokeswoman Aisha Johnson tells WSLS that the body was found behind a building in the 5200 block of Williamson Road.
Investigators are still at the scene, trying to figure out if the person was killed, or died from natural causes.
