Swimmers can get back in the water at the Ponderosa campground in Franklin County.

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) says tests done on the water at the swimming area this past Monday, showed lower levels of E.coli bacteria than last week, and withing state safety guidelines.  The campground sits along the Blackwater River that feeds into Smith Mountain Lake.  (Click here for a map)

The VDH posted signs at the campground warning people about the E.coli spike last week.  Those signs have since been removed.

The VDH added in a news release that no one claimed to have gotten sick from this E.coli spike.
