A Giles County family is in the hospital for carbon monoxide poisoning.

The Giles Co. Sheriff’s Office tells WSLS that the Collins’ family power went out at their home near Pearisburg, around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday.  Investigators say the family’s generator then turned on in their basement.

Deputies tell us carbon monoxide from the generator came up through the floor, and poisoned a father and three children.

Giles Co. Rescue says they received a call for help around 6:00 a.m., and took the family to Giles Memorial Hospital.  The family has since been moved to Duke University Medical Center, in Durham, North Carolina.
