The Roanoke Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a runaway teenager.  Brittany Lawhorne, age 16 of Roanoke, was reported missing on May 2, 2008 at approximately 7 a.m. by her family.

A citizen came forward today with information that Miss Lawhorne was with a man, possibly a truck driver, on May 2 at approximately 10 a.m. at the Travel Centers of America Truck Stop in Botetourt County.  The man is described as a black male, wearing a red shirt, approximately 40 years of age, approximately five feet eight inches tall.  There is no information indicating that Miss Lawhorne has been the victim of a crime.  However, the department is concerned that due to Miss Lawhorne’s age and lack of life experience that she may fail to realize the consequences of her actions, and she may involve herself in situations she cannot adequately handle.

Anyone who may have seen Miss Lawhorne at the truck stop or any other location, or has information regarding her whereabouts should call the Roanoke Police Department at (540) 853-2211.
