Roanoke, South Boston VA National Guard to hold freedom salutes this weekend

Virginia National Guard Soldiers from the South Boston and Roanoke areas will gather Sept. 6 and 7 to conduct Freedom Salutes in honor of the service of E Company, 429th Brigade Support Battalion in Iraq from July 2007 to May 2008.
The schedule for the Freedom Salutes will be:
1. Saturday, Sept. 6th:
When - 1:00 p.m.
Where - Cluster Springs Ruritan Club, 1053 Paradise Road, Alton VA (Inclement weather location: Halifax Co. High School)
2. Sunday, Sept. 7th:
When - 1:00 p.m.
Where - Holiday Inn Tanglewood, 4468 Starkey Rd. SW, Roanoke Co.
The Freedom Salute Campaign is one of the largest Army National Guard recognition endeavors in history, designed to publicly acknowledge Army Guard Soldiers and those who supported them during the President’s call to duty for Operations Noble Eagle, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
The Freedom Salute will recognize the Soldiers, their families, employers and organizations that contributed significantly to supporting the unit during its deployment.
As part of the Freedom Salute campaign, each Soldier is scheduled to receive a American flag in a wood display case, a Defender of Freedom certificate as well as commemorative coins and medallions.
