The sign says vote here, but Nancy Scheie says she didn’t get to.
“I feel like I was deprived something very important in my life this year,” Scheie said.
She and her son got up early to vote here at Buchanan Elementary School, but she says when she went to punch the button, there was no button to punch.
“I just saw the representative candidates and the senate candidates. I did not see the presidential candidates on the screen,“ she said.
Scheie says that’s when she asked for help.
“I was told they couldn’t do anything about it, and I would just have to do without voting for the president,“ she said.
Ten On Your Side took the question to the Botetourt County Registrar’s Office.
“We’ve had two of those reports, and they are just stand-out reports.  There’s really no accounting for those reports,“ Secretary of Botetourt Electoral Board Robert Hagan, Jr. said.  “The machines have been tested ahead of time.“
Botetourt was no’t the only area with complaints.  In fact, complaints came from all over the state.
The State Board of Elections says the complaints are being investigated.
Scheie says hat is not going to help her much this time around.
“I’ve always voted.  I’ve always taken an active part in my community when it comes to voting, but this one was a real let down,“ Scheie said.
