The Lynchburg Museum and Point of Honor are offering free admission this weekend in honor of Independence Day.

The holiday special will run Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Museum officials hope this will encourage local residents to discover the history in their own backyard.

“Since many people are not traveling as much for summer holidays, this is a good opportunity to explore two of Lynchburg’s treasures for free,” director Doug Harvey said.

The museum has recently added a number of new artifacts to its exhibits that have not been on display for many years.

The Lynchburg Museum and Point of Honor are both open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call (434) 455-6226 or visit http://www.lynchburgmuseum.org and http://www.pointofhonor.org.
