State Police now say the student they thought had a broken leg, did not break a leg.  The student just has a deep bone bruise.

State Police also say there were now 32 students on the bus, not 31.  Three of those students were taken to a hospital in Farmville, and four were taken to a hospital in Halifax.

Troopers tell us Phyllis Pollard slumped forward on the wheel on the school bus after her medical emergency.  Troopers say she was well thought of and loved by her students.

Investigators say Pollard’s husband is Major Carson Pollard of the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Department.

Mrs. Pollard’s husband was right behind the bus?  As tragic as that was, it was also a blessing that a deputy could be there to assist the children and help calm them right away…not to mention being there for his wife in her last moments.

Condolences to Mrs. Pollard’s family, and thankful none of the children had any serious injuries.
