A local law enforcement agency receives a $14,000 check for helping to get a meth pusher off the street.

Today, First Assistant United States Attorney Julie Dudley presented a check to Carroll County Sheriff Warren Manning for $14,853.

The money was seized during a traffic stop back in February from Scotty Carico of Galax, along with six ounces of meth.

“It’s a great thing to be able to get that kind of money to be able to combat drugs in our county,“ says Manning. I’m going to use it for every thing I can to stop the traffic flow of drugs coming into the county.“

With the help of the sheriff’s office, Carico was arrested and convicted of intent to distribute meth and possession of a firearm.

He was sentenced to 13 years in federal prison.
