A chain reaction crash caused a major roadblock on Interstate 77 Saturday afternoon.

State Police Sgt. Michael Conroy says 73-year-old Robert J. Chylaszek, from Martinsville, Indiana, rear-ended a Pontiac sedan that was slowing for traffic with his Mercedes SUV, around 2:00 p.m., in the northbound lanes just past the Hillsville exit.

Sgt. Conroy says that Pontiac sedan got pushed into the right lane, and side-swiped another SUV.

The SUV lost control, spun, and hit a fourth car.

EMTs took five people to Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax.

State Police charged Chylaszek with reckless driving.
