Radford University enhances security

Radford University’s Board of Visitors recently approved a $163.1 million budget.

One of the most important things the budget will cover is improved security. The university purchased several LCD monitors and they’ll be installed across campus.

If there’s an emergency, a message will be typed into the system and then transmitted across campus for everyone to see and hear.

“We can get the message in the system pretty quickly,“ says Dennie Templeton, Director of Emergency Preparedness. “Once it’s initialized it could be anywhere from 15-20 seconds.“

Templeton says a lot of universities use LCD monitors for normal communication, but after doing research, he decided they would be a good resource during an emergency.
