BLACKSBURG – State Senator Creigh Deeds released the following statement on the second anniversary of the April 16th tragedy at Virginia Tech:

“This tragic day will always weigh heavy on the hearts and minds of every Virginian.  We will never forget the Virginians who lost their lives on April 16, 2007.  The strength and courage of their families continue to be an inspiration.  We must remember and ponder the lessons of this horrific tragedy, and we must do everything we can to ensure public safety across our commonwealth, especially at our public institutions.“

Deeds attended a memorial service for victims of the April 16th tragedy earlier today in Blacksburg.
