Deadly accident in Halifax County

State Police are investigating the cause of an accident that left one man dead.

It happened around 9:30 Saturday night on Route 57 (Chatham Road) just west of Route 672 in Halifax Co.

Police say 48-year-old Dennis Tucker of Nathalie ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected and hit both an embankment and a boarded fence.

They say the car then flipped and hit a tree before coming to a final stop.

Tucker was thrown from his car and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police would not say if alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.
