The Henry Co. Sheriff’s Office is investigating a murder they say happened after 2 a.m. Wednesday morning in Martinsville.
They say 46-year-old Annette Kaye Turner Vaughn was heard by neighbors screaming near her home on Erwin Street.
They say she had been stabbed.
Investigator say Vaughn was taken to Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry Co. where she later died of her injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office had received a call from Vaughn earlier that morning concerning a male friend she wanted to leave her home.
Deputies did go to the home and the male friend did agree to leave.
Upon receiving the call from neighbors after Vaughn was stabbed, Martinsville City Police officers located that same male friend walking on Commonwealth’s Blvd. near Nelson Ford Dealership.
The Sheriff’s Office did speak to the friend, but are continuing their investigation.
No charges have been filed at this time.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (276) 638-8751.
