New shoe shop opening in Danville

Hole in the Sole shoe and leather repair shop will open at 148 Arnett Blvd. in Sherwood Shopping Center in the first week of July.

Store owner Michael Shutov is moving the store to Danville from New York City.

Since the recent closure of shoe repair shops in Danville, local residents have had to travel out of town to get their footwear fixed.

Shutov, a third-generation cobbler who learned at his father’s knee, became aware of the opportunity in Danville when the city’s Office of Economic Development placed an ad on the Shoe Services Industries of America Web site.

Hole in the Sole will offer resoles, half soles, re-heeling, orthotics and other shoe-repair services as well as luggage, belt and other leather repairs. Shutov is also skilled in repairing motorcycle leathers and equestrian tack items.
