Two killed in tractor trailer crash on Route 58

Crews are still cleaning up after a tractor-trailer accident in Halifax County.

State Police say a truck was turning onto the eastbound lanes of Route 58 near South Boston when it was rear ended by another truck.

40-year-old Truman Douglas Young and 37-year-old Tamara Ferguson Young of Bassett were killed.

The accident scattered boxes of soap and fabric softener across Route 58.  The road is still closed near Maplewood Drive. 

Westbound traffic is being diverted onto Sandy Beach Road.

VDOT says part of Route 58 or Philpott Road near Maplewood Drive in Halifax County is closed because of a tractor trailer accident.

The westbound right and left lanes are closed. Westbound traffic is being diverted onto Sandy Beach Road.

Expect delays.
