Kaine Seeks Fema Assessment Of Va Storm Damage
RICMOND, Va. (AP) Gov. Tim Kaine is asking the Federal Emergency Management Agency to send damage assessment teams to Virginia following last week's wind-driven rain storm.
As he assured residents in storm-damaged Norfolk and Hampton on Saturday, Kaine said Monday he has asked that FEMA immediately begin its official assessments.
Those assessments will help determine whether Virginia is eligible for federal disaster assistance.
Kaine said those assessments should be completed by midweek.
The remnants of Tropical Storm Ida primarily lashed coastal Virginia with high winds and drenching rain, causing widespread flooding in several localities. During his weekend tour, Kaine heard residents appeal for help.
