A 10’s Most Wanted success.  Virginia State Police say a convicted North Carolina sex offender, believed to be in our area, has been caught.

Troopers tell us they caught 58-year-old Albert Charles Burgess in Rockingham County, near Harrisonburg.  Police say they were acting on an anonymous tip when they located a vehicle belonging to Burgess, at a hotel.

Burgess is wanted for failure to appear on felony charges of 3rd degree sexual exploitation of a child, and failure to change his address as required by North Carolina law.  Officers say the main charge is related to child pornography.  Marshals say Burgess has been known to enter church congregations, where he befriends families in order to gain access to their children.

On Monday, June 9th, State Police told WSLS they believed Burgess may be in the Lynchburg-Campbell County area, or the Highland County-Staunton area.

Back in May, the U.S. Marshal’s Service told WSLS that Burgess was seen in the Roanoke area.
