Heart disease is the number one killer of men and women, and Governor Tim Kaine’s stop at Centra Health in Lynchburg Monday may help with cardiac care.

Centra is using a grant from the Governor’s office to make electronic health records more accessible for doctors treating heart patients.  It’s a pilot program, and the first of its kind in the state.

Governor Kaine says he hopes it will catch on around the country.  “If it works, and we have every reason to believe it should, shop the results to other hospitals and physician groups, not only in Virginia, but around the nation,“ the Governor told us.

Centra got the $150,000 grant in February.
