New research shows that screening hospital patients for MRSA before they are admitted may not help stop the spread of the disease.
The study published in The Journal of American Medicine says that widespread rapid screening for MRSA does not appear to help all patients, but it might be useful for patients at high risk for infection.
57 percent of the patients who developed MRSA did not test positive when they were admitted.
