New veterans clinic for Wythe County
Published: October 23, 2009
9th District Congressman Rick Boucher says Wythe County will receive a new Veterans Affairs outpatient clinic.
The new outpatient clinic will be located in Wytheville, along Peppers Ferry Road. Boucher said construction is set to begin in January, with completition by next Summer.
“One of my highest priorities is ensuring the availability of high quality, easily accessible health care for our region’s veterans. To that end, I have been working closely with the Veterans Administration for the purpose of establishing more outpatient clinics for veterans in our region. I am pleased to report today that, at my urging, a new clinic will soon be located in Wytheville,” Boucher said in the release.
Any veteran enrolled for health care services at the VA will be eligible to receive services at the Wytheville clinic, Boucher said in a news release.
“I have long suggested to the Veterans Administration that the provision of community-based primary care services promotes better health among veterans than the current arrangement of requiring a drive to the VA hospitals to receive both primary and specialized care. I am pleased that a new VA clinic will be located in Wythe County to provide our region’s veterans with convenient access to health care services,” Boucher concluded in the release.
