John interviewed by Q-99 with Dick and Dave

“Coming up after the break, I’m going to tray and talk some sense into this boy.”

That’s what I heard Dick Daniels say on the speaker above my head as I waited in the lobby of Q-99 this morning.

Dick Daniels and Dave Page invited me on to talk about my departure from WSLS and new job as Senior Vice President at Access Advertising, Design + PR.  I was looking forward to it.

Then the receptionist began telling me they had big plans for me.  And as people walked through, they shook their heads, “so you’re going on with Dick and Dave huh?” they said, shaking their heads and walking away.

Okaaaay.

Then Dick came into the lobby, said “Hey, Dave is doing the news, I’ll be back for you.”  And he left!

So I stood there with the receptionist who was shaking her head. 

Next came the aforementioned announcement on the speaker above my head, after which Dick re-appeared in the lobby to take me back to the studio.

Once the interview started it was actually a lot of fun.  No need for all the apprehension.  These guys are class acts.

They played a phone call from my new business partner Access, “Chief Creative Officer” Tony Pearman, and asked me about how this all came to pass, what Karen McNew thought, and whether Jay Warren would now need to take up running marathons.

They did run a phone call from some angry guy (serial caller?) who wanted to know why my hair never moved – and did I wear a rug?  But other than that – nothing to worry about.
