Back on the Beat

I got a taste of my former life yesterday. I was returning from vacation Sunday after several flight delays and couldn’t make it back in time to do the morning show. Instead, I had a chance to report. Unfortunately I was working on a story no one likes to report on. It was a triple murder in Henry County.

When I am not covering a tragedy, being out in the filed is something I have always enjoyed. When I used to work weekends, I always thought I had the best of both worlds—anchoring and reporting. Now that my circumstances have changed—both professionally and personally—I’m am enjoying a new challenge with the occasional blast back to the past.

I was thankful though after getting home at eight Monday night and only getting to see my daughter asleep in her crib, that those extra longs days are only occasional and not commonplace. I look forward to seeing her when I get home this afternoon!!
