Girl Scout cookie time!

This has got to be one of my favorite times of year. I love girl scout cookies.

Are they just that good or are they better because we can only get them once a year? Since we can only get them once a year, I buy enough to freeze some so I can have them throughout the year—- and whether it’s February or September, they are still delicious!!

This year, I have to say I was a bit disappointed. My husband told me the girl scout we get them from was now taking orders. We usually get several boxes of thin mints and tagalongs as they are called were I grew up. They’re peanut butter patties from the baker the Southwest Virginia scouts use. I couldn’t see the list soon enough so I went on line to see what was new this year.

What tempted my taste buds besides my usual go to cookies—Dulce de Leche. The description was divine… “inspired by the classic confections of Latin America, these sweet, indulgent cookies are rich with milk caramel chips and stripes.“ YUMMY, right.

I couldn’t wait to place my order… only to be disappointed I could not get them from my local scouts. The Dulce de Leche cookies are made by Little Brownie Bakers. This region gets it’s cookies from ABC Bakers. Bummer. Maybe next year?!?
