Huckabee tours SWVA
Former Arkansas Governor and Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee was in Roanoke tonight signing books at Books-A-Million.
Huckabee stopped by our studios to do a satellite interview with FOX NewsChannel, a gig he picked up after dropping out of the presidential race. Before the sat interview, he agreed to do a quick interview with me.
I have interviewed a lot of politicians, and I can say Huckabee is one of the nicest, most genuine that I have run across. When you get to his level, having managed a state for a decade and run a national campaign that was on the verge of grabbing the nomination (he won the IA caucuses), many politicians let it go to their head. Not Huckabee.
Yes, he has an entourage. Yes, he even has a touring bus with his picture plastered on it. It’s all part of building a brand, upping your name ID, creating buzz, and selling a book. But, behind that bus was a friendly, personable, even funny man.
You may not agree with his politics, but I think you’d have to agree that Mike Huckabee isn’t your typical politician.
