Pictures send best message from DNC
In our media age, often time it’s the pictures that matter the most. We got a clear sense of that Monday and Wednesday night at the Democratic National Convention. Sure, there have been some good and some great speeches at the convention. But, will anyone remember the words? Probably not.
What people are more likely to remember are the images. Monday night it was the Obama daughters running up to the television screen to reach out to “daddy.“ It was a touching moment as they said “we love you daddy.“ Their mother spoke before them, but her words were quickly overshadowed. The kids stole the show with a completely unscripted moment.
Wednesday night we heard from former President Bill Clinton and vice presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE). Both gave commanding speeches to rally the troops and draw clear distinctions between the Republicans and Democrats. But, the most memorable part of the night was the ending when the Obama family combined with the Biden family on stage. We saw four generations of Bidens and the youth of the Obamas. We saw the formation of not just a ticket, but a team. The visuals were great.
Speeches matter. Words matters. Ideas matter. But… so too do pictures. And the Democrats have had two nights with some great, memorable images.
