Why I’m wearing glasses these days…
You may have noticed over the past several weeks that I’ve been wearing glasses. While it’s new to you, trust me… wearing glasses is nothing new to me!
I first required glasses in the 4th grade. That was 1982. And every year after that, my prescription got a little worse and a little worse. By now, I am practically blind without glasses or contacts. My alarm clock has 3 inch numbers and my glasses always have to go in the same place on my bedside table to make sure I can find them in the morning.
So, after years of wearing contacts and glasses, I made the decision to go ahead with LASIK surgery to permanently correct my vision. I’m a little nervous about it, but after a lot of consideration I think it’s the right time for me to do this.
In order to prepare for the procedure, you can’t wear contacts two weeks prior to the surgery. The doctors told me I could wear my contacts for a few minutes to anchor the newscasts, but nothing more. I’ve tried to follow their advice to the letter. So, that’s why you’ve seen me in my glasses these past few weeks.
The procedure is scheduled for Thursday. And hopefully on Friday morning, I’ll wake up and be able to see across the room! Fingers crossed.
