Eventful weekend

Our power went out at 5am on Saturday… I had been in Roanoke for a long training run and when I got home… it was cold… as the afternoon began to wear on Matt and I were trying to figure out if we should take the chance that the power would come on or make other arrangements assuming we were in for a cold dark night…

We called the power company and after they estimated for our area it could be as early as Sunday at 4pm or Sunday night at midnight we decided to pack up Luckie and head to Roanoke… I’m glad the days are longer than they have been because once the sun starts to set it gets dark inside the house fast… after throwing some clothes into a suitcase and packing the dog’s bed, food and pills we got in the car and started on our way…

The frustrating thing was that as soon as we pulled out of our neighborhood the first house on the left had lights and plenty of power… for a moment we balked at making the trip into Roanoke… wishful thinking on our part… we decided not to chance it.. and it is a good thing… we got to Roanoke and actually had an enjoyable evening…

We made the right choice because our neighbors told us the power didn’t come on until 7am on Sunday… the brief power outage made watching the playoffs with a hot bowl of chili last night that much more enjoyable!
