Facebook phenomenon
People have been talking about social networking websites for a long time… I traditionally wrote off the discussions as something “I didn’t have time for…“ I mean the popular argument people have made… including myself is : “If I wanted to keep in touch with a friend… then I would already talk to him or her or e-mail him or her…“ Why do I need a website to do that for me?
Well, there are some former co-workers and a friend or two from college I have lost touch with… and turns out facebook is an easy… low maintenance way to get caught up with a friend… let them know how you are and then sign off… there is no long drawn out conversation that none of us really have time for… I mean try packing 8 years of catching up into a phone call and you might as well block off half the day… but the pictures on facebook allows you to get quick snapshots of your friends life… kind of like a soap opera… you feel like you are caught up with one viewing…
There are still a lot of things I don’t know how to use on my little “page” - I may or may not “have time” to take full advantage of this little tool but so far - it is fun and free…

I have been on Facebook for over a year now, and it has been wonderful for keeping up with my friends who live out of the country, family out of state, and like you, old pals from school. It is less offensive than mySpace, and much easier! I hope that you find it as fun as I have! It is GREAT!
