The Inauguration

I talked to my mom last night on my way home from work… she asked me if I would be watching the inauguration.. I said yes… she mentioned this was the first inauguration she would be able to watch… she had a job in retail for many years and always had to work…

I have enjoyed hearing my mom’s enthusiasm over the latest presidential campaign… election and now swearing in… My mom never seemed to pay too much attention or speak much about election time as I was growing up but the most recent race was much different… all throughout the campaign she would give me frequent updates about the race and her feelings…there was something about this latest election that really energized people in one way or another…

She called me Saturday to tell me she was watching the train…“The Obama Express” my mom rarely makes a date with the television…

She called me after the speech today to see if I saw John Roberts “mess up” the swearing in… and to see if I liked Michelle Obama’s outfit…

One thing is for sure… Obama’s speech was filled with hopeful words and a message of responsibility for all of us… It is nice to think of a bright future ahead…
